Napa Valley: Chateau Montelena Winery

In 1882, San Francisco entrepreneur Alfred L. Tubbs bought this land two miles north of Calistoga at the base of Mount Saint Helena, in the Napa Valley. He planted the vineyard, built his chateau, and began making wine until 1920, when prohibition began.  Wine-making was revived in 1972.
