We found this winery to be a very American concept.
Castello di Amorosa was built by Dario Sattui, a Californian of Italian heritage. Over a period of 30 years, he built the castle using methods and materials that would have been used in Italy 700-800 years ago. The castle now comes fully equipped with a moat, drawbridge, five towers, a well, stables, prison, torture chamber and wine cellars.
We contented ourselves with walking around the outside of it.
Tourists crossing the moat via the drawbridge.
Laura on the steps.
Laura, Arend and Pat resting in the vineyard.
Poppies in the vineyard.
Artfully planted wildflowers.
Medieval fence.
Medieval shed.
The views were magnificent.
