Durham walkabout

Sunday, 22nd September, 2019.

Durham Castle is occupied by Durham University.  Founded in 1832, it is England's third oldest, after Oxford and Cambridge.  The Castle is jointly designated  a UNESCO World Heritage Site with the adjacent Durham Cathedral.  Judith studied here.

Entrance to the university.  Not a bad front door.

Durham town centre - very floral.

Durham town centre boasts a floral bishop's mitre - presumably because their bishop is the fourth top one in England.

I liked how they used spider plant for the bishop's hair - that's what it looked like to me anyway.  (Paul's picture).

Klimt's Kiss has a lot to answer for.
