Miyama-cho: Morning at Chisa’s

Monday, 14th April, 2014.

This tulip in Chisa’s garden was just opening.

I was hoping these daffodils would open before we left, but they didn’t quite make it.

This edible plant (the brown one) is called a field horsetail.

When we were in Osaka, we saw people hunting for them on the levee near the Tomato Hostel.  Shiho, the chef at Momo in Osaka, went to a deal of trouble to translate this word for us, so we made a point of looking for them wherever we went.  We found some growing around Miyama-cho.

In a tourist information centre near Chisa’s place, Frances and I found “Futon & Breakfast” an amusing concept.  You couldn’t accuse them of false representation.

Carol admires an organic daikon (giant radish).  We ate quite a few of these, in various forms, before we left Japan.

The white pipe at the right of the picture drained water to this field from a higher field beside it.
