20th August, 2012.
After all the rushing about, trying to absorb new sights and assimilate new ideas, it was nice to have a day where we didn’t have to pack up, but could just take our time to reflect on what we’d already done, and do what we wanted to do.
We wandered around the town for a bit in the morning, then in the afternoon took the hotel shuttle bus to the nearby beach.
On the way, there was an enormous gathering of motor bikes all over the road. We thought it must have been some kind of demonstration, until we realised we were outside a school, and it was “home time”.
We drove past rice fields.
Parasailing at the beach.
Watery landing. Some of our group went swimming, and said the water was very warm and pleasant.
Taking it easy by the water.
Woodley at the beach.
Woodley using his time well while waiting for the bus.
Here is the bridge over the river in the day time. You can just see Pat on the right.
Here is the bridge at night. We walked over the bridge to a vibrant market on the other side of the river.
At the market, I just couldn’t help buying some of these lanterns, encouraged by Isabel. I didn’t have the right money, so Isabel lent me a dollar.
