Our next adventure was to travel from Nagasaki to Kyoto by train. We took a local train for the first part of the journey, then changed to a bullet train.
Pictures taken from a train window are rarely successful, but here are a few taken from the local train. The scenery was really delightful around Nagasaki.
For much of the journey from Nagasaki, the railway line ran beside the sea.
The farms were very neat, with bright green crops.
This guard was very conscientious about his duty …..
looking up and down the platform multiple times …..
….. and checking his watch multiple times before finally waving his flag to let the train go. Trains in Japan were always on time to the minute.
Here’s a shinkansen at one of the stations.
Kyoto, the next stage of our journey, was about to begin.
