Dan had invited a Syrian friend of his, Elias, to come and meet us at dinner, to tell us some places we should visit on our approaching trip to Syria. Elias had then invited Hadi, a young Syrian friend of his who had worked at the prestigious Four Seasons Hotel in Damascus, and is now at the Four Seasons in Doha, to come along as well, as he would have all the current tourist information. They were both so helpful, and the insights they have given us will make our visit so much more meaningful. Also in the party was Abdullah, a Qatari whose father had been tha Qatari ambassador in various countries incuding Australia (I think).
